Chainmaille is jewelry made from metal circles called jump rings. When you weave the jump rings together, you can create patterns. There are many standard patterns that have been developed over the years, including Byzantine mail, Helm chain, and Japanese mail. In fact, mail armor has been discovered in the graves of Celtic warriors that are over 2700 years old!

 

Many modern techniques have been developed to make chainmaille even more interesting. Colored jump rings and silicone rubber rings are some the newest materials available to take weaving to a new level!
